Singdean, a Scottish Borders cottage house, part of which is was built in the 14th Century, provides tranquil and relaxing accommodation in the stunning location of Singdean Forest. We are situated high on a gorgeous stretch of road with wonderful views.
We are completely off grid. We produce all of our electricity through solar panels, our water comes from a private spring and our hot water and heating come from our log burner. The logs we burn are from our own land together with a lovely delivery from the farmer down the road when ours are a bit too wet. Our nearest neighbours are about 3 miles away.
Nestling amongst the beautiful wild scenery, Singdean is an ideal location for total relaxation with a private outdoor sauna and hot tub. If you feel like doing more, there are beautiful walks, mountain bike trails, landscapes to paint, wildlife to spot, little villages to explore and only about 55 miles from Edinburgh and 45 from Newcastle. It is also makes for a wonderful holiday for your dogs.
As the daylight disappears, the stars take their turn on the stage. The Milky Way is often on view and with no light pollution at all, the sky at night around Singdean is truly breathtaking If you're lucky, you may see the Northern Lights from just outside of your room where you can then shortly be tucked into our cosy room and enjoying your relaxation.
Kielder Forest (Britains largest forest) and Kielder Water are just a few miles away. Here you can enjoy wonderful walks through the forest and along side the lake. There is also a mountain biking centre, water skiing and even a large public observatory.
The nearest towns are Hawick (home of cashmere) and Jedburgh ( a lovely sleepy town with an abbey ruin and an amazing butcher). One thing to note is that these towns have the nearest petrol stations. If you are travelling from the M6, the last petrol station is in Longtown, on the A7.
